From O-1 to EB-1A
Background
A producer who spent many years building a career in Hollywood. Starting on an O-1 visa, she gradually established her standing in the industry and kept expanding her business, and she later served as a recommender for several newcomers applying for O-1 visas.
Challenges
Hollywood carries a degree of industry bias against Asian women. On top of that, moving from O-1 to EB-1A required proof of sustained extraordinary achievement, not just a single award or successful project.
Strategy
We stayed in close contact with her and updated the materials with each career development, presenting her business growth and her role as a recommender for others as evidence of sustained influence.
Outcome
Approved on first submission with no RFE.
