Same-Sex Marriage Green Card in Texas

Background

The U.S. citizen and spouse had known each other for many years, going from friends to partners to marriage. The spouse brought a son from a previous marriage, and the three formed a new family.

Challenges

Texas is not friendly to same-sex marriage, so review of the marriage's genuineness was especially strict, and we also had to show how well the citizen and stepson had become a family.

Strategy

We mapped the complete timeline of the relationship, added evidence of family integration showing the citizen's acceptance of the stepson, and provided interview training tailored to how cases are reviewed in Texas.

Outcome

Just 5 months from filing to green cards in hand, with all three family members approved (filed 12/29/2025 · I-485 approved 05/08/2026 · green cards received 05/19/2026).
