Green Cards Through Two Successive Marriages

Background

In 2019 Mr. L filed for his first spouse, who was approved for a 2-year green card. They divorced at the end of 2022. The first spouse's I-751 went through an RFE and an interview and was still approved for a 10-year green card in 2023. Mr. L later naturalized and, in early 2024, filed for his second spouse.

Challenges

With petitions for two marriages filed one after the other, we had to handle the different review logic of a post-divorce I-751 and a new spouse's petition.

Strategy

We prepared the materials separately according to what each review would focus on.

Outcome

The second spouse was approved for a green card in August 2024, and the immigration cases from both marriages succeeded.
