Education Master's
Background
S holds a master's in education from USC and a bachelor's in music performance from the University of Miami. The sponsoring company was a restaurant with only seven employees and a net loss.
Challenges
On the surface, a background in education and music performance had nothing to do with a restaurant business.
Strategy
We used the detail that the restaurant's DBA (doing-business-as name) included the word "Tech" to show that the company genuinely needed the position. After an RFE, we submitted payroll records to prove S had maintained OPT status.
Outcome
Approved after the RFE response (received June 7 · approved October 6).
