Approved with a coherent cross-field argument

Biochemistry to Medical Devices

Background

Mr. Z originally researched water pollution and the causes of cancer. After coming to the United States, he moved into medical devices and nanorobotics and filed his NIW around a medical device project under development.

Challenges

If the petition had stayed centered on his water research, it would have been hard to show that his future plans were feasible. The key issue in review was building a sound logical link between his environmental pollution research and his work in medical technology innovation.

Strategy

We argued the logical connection between research on water pollution as a cause of cancer and targeted cancer therapy using nanorobots. We highlighted his role as an industry contributor in medical device innovation and investment, and supported the project's feasibility with data on its technical prospects and market demand.

Outcome

Approved with no RFE.
