Planning ahead for her child's education
Background
Ms. L was formerly a senior executive at a well-known company in China with extensive HR management experience, and earned an EMBA while working. With her child's future education in mind, she chose the NIW over the more demanding EB-1A.
Challenges
We needed to show that a part-time EMBA from China qualified as the "advanced degree" the NIW requires, and that her "smart HR platform" project was feasible.
Strategy
We clearly set out the academic standard and industry recognition of her EMBA program and brought together her experience as an executive and in comprehensive HR management. We used software copyright registrations, her appearance at a startup summit, and potential support from a local government to show that the project was realistic.
Outcome
NIW approved, leaving about four and a half years of planning time before her child attends high school in the United States.
