Success Stories/Immigration/NIW National Interest Waiver/BIM Sustainable Architect: Approved Without RFE by Tying the Case to an LAX Project
No RFE

Approved by tying the case to an LAX project

BIM Sustainable Architect

Background

Mr. Z focuses on BIM-based urban renewal and green building optimization. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and a LEED-accredited professional, and has received the 2024 MUSE Design Award and the London Design Award.

Challenges

The initial application materials did not yet meet the NIW's high standard. Stronger evidence was needed to show a direct link between his technology and U.S. national strategy.

Strategy

During our interviews with him, we learned about a partnership opportunity he was pursuing on the smart upgrade of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). We tied his BIM urban renewal approach (which can reduce building energy consumption by 15%) directly to the goals of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and supported his implementation commitments with a four-layer evidence framework covering policy, academia, industry, and society, along with a project timeline.

Outcome

Approved on first submission with no RFE.
