Cultural project backed by local government
Background
Mr. G plans to film a documentary that helps Asian Americans trace their roots and promotes cultural diversity and behavioral health. The project has received support from the local county government in materials, equipment, and planning.
Challenges
National interest in the film industry is not as straightforward to establish as in hard tech. USCIS wants to see broad significance and also requires a concrete, workable implementation plan.
Strategy
We positioned the project as using content innovation to address cultural identity and behavioral health issues in the Asian American community, and used the county government's actual support materials to show that the short-term goals were achievable and the long-term direction had social value.
Outcome
NIW approved.
