Background
A recently graduated illustrator who designed the official poster for a science fiction film, winning several awards for it, and also worked on the visual design of an independent game.
Challenges
The first RFE asked for a union consultation letter, even though the illustration industry has no clearly defined union. The second RFE questioned whether she had maintained lawful status during CPT and whether her work history was continuous.
Strategy
For the first RFE, we submitted a consultation letter from a comparable industry organization. For the second, we explained in detail her lawful employment during CPT and clearly traced her path from an academic background into the illustration industry.
Outcome
O-1 approved after two rounds of RFE.
