Success Stories/Immigration/O-1 Extraordinary Ability Visa/Violinist: Tight Status Transition, Approved After RFE
Tight status transition

Approved after RFE

Violinist

Background

A violinist who majored in music and, after graduating, performed at several international fashion shows and arts and culture festivals. Her OPT was about to end, leaving very little time for a status transition.

Challenges

Most CPT programs on the market are business programs that do not match her arts background. Choosing one carelessly could easily lead USCIS to question the mismatch between her field and her program.

Strategy

We developed a "Violin Department Coordinator" job title for her. Its administrative and coordination focus fit a business curriculum while keeping her arts background credible. When an RFE arrived, we responded with a detailed status timeline and a description of the position.

Outcome

O-1 approved after the RFE response.
