Background
Under psychological pressure, a student wanted to change from student to visitor status. After the student filed alone, the school terminated the SEVIS record and the change failed. The student then missed the RFE deadline, and the application was denied.
Challenges
Repeatedly missing key deadlines for personal reasons left the student out of status for more than a year in total.
Strategy
We urgently secured admission at a partner school, obtained an offer and a reinstatement I-20, and reorganized the materials for a new filing.
Outcome
Approved after refiling (filed 07/2024 · approved 10/2024).
